Dr. Thomas Cobb was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey for a 5-term term beginning in January of 2022.  He replaces Dr. Brenda Denson in the institutional seat.

A native of Scottsboro, AL, he began working in a local independent pharmacy at the age of 15.  He is a 1998 graduate of the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy.  Upon graduation, he completed a specialty residency in primary care at The Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Dr. Cobb has served as a clinical pharmacist in the Birmingham VA system, clinical manager in a large community hospital, the southeastern regional director of clinical pharmacy services for Cardinal Health, and Director of Pharmacy.  He is currently employed by Jackson Hospital and Clinics in Montgomery Alabama as the Assistant Vice President for Pharmacy Services.  His responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, infectious disease, and post-graduate medical education.

In addition to memberships in ALSHP, ASHP, and APA, he has served ALSHP as a national delegate and as ALSHP President.  He currently serves on the Samford McWhorter School of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Board.
